Was trying to find some ways to earn some extra pocket money or save cash for myself during this economic downturn when I stumble upon this particular individual Mompreneur Asia where she listed some useful way to work at home. Tried this particular site she recommended call Email Cash Pro which is a site that will send advertisement emails to you and you can earn points by reading the email and this point can then be converted to cash. The real money churner here is when you refer people, it works a little like MLM so if the people you referred read the email you earn extra points. Have been trying this for a while, as I wasn't too sure about the genuity of this site, I didn't really refer any people. So far I have been diligently reading the email and looking at my account I seems to have earn $0.20. Hi hi.... well just a way to earn extra cash.
Another website that I find quite interesting is Fr3B.com. This website offer free samples for you to try. So one good way for you to keep yourself pretty yet don't need to pay. Have went into the site and found some of the product samples quite up to date and of good brand.
Well, will be searching out for other ways to save money or earn some extra cash and keep this post updated when I find anything interesting.

Good Tips to fight mosquitoes
My hubby sent me an email recently on how you can get rid of mosquitoes the cheap way. The answer is Listerine. According to the mail, just pour Listerine in a spray bottle and spray around the places that have mosquitoes.
Here's the comments from the mail:
"I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly. I bought my family bottle from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much and it is a big bottle, too; so it is not as expensive to use as the can of Bug-spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes. So, try this, please. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood door (like your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window frames, and even inside the dog house. Now these are Good repellant for Mosquitos!!!"
By the way, I also found out some DIY ways to get rid of insects like cockroach and fruit flies. This is what I did.

- To get rid of Cockroach - I bought lemon grass from the market and just throw one or two on those places that attract cockroach.
- To get rid of fruit flies - I take one lemon grass and grind it in a food processor then I cook it in about 3 cups of water and leave it to cool, after that I pour the mixture into a spray bottles and spray it on the fruits like banana that attracts fruit flies and it works! So try it, it such a cheap and earth friendly way to get rid of insects.

Desaru Fruit Farm Tour
ave been planning to bring SMALL FAN for an oversea trip and never really get the chance as Baby FAN was still too small then. So last weekend, we decided to bring the whole family for a short 2 days 1 night trip to Desaru. We booked the Desaru Fruit Farm tour thru http://www.desaruff.com/ and stayed one night at The Pulai Desaru. It was quite an enjoyable trip for the kids, SMALL FAN really enjoy it. He was even telling us he wants to go back to the hotel to stay when we were on our ferry back home. Here's an account of the trip.
Day 1
We took a ferry from Changi Ferry Terminal. SMALL FAN's first trip on a Ferry. Showed him what is a ferry the day before from the internet, so he knows it's some sort like a ship. Here he is, really excited as he look out the window and saw that he was surrounded by water.
We reached Desaru and headed straight for the Desaru Fruit Farm which is about half an hour away from the Ferry Terminal. As there is only our family, just 4 adults and 2 kids who signed up for the trip that day (they offered that tour daily), so we get to have personalized service where a mini van was there together with our driver cum tour guide to bring us to the farm. At the farm the driver cum tour guide then bring us round the farm as he showed us the different fruits there. I was a little disappointed that they didn't provide us with the staff from the fruit farm to explain to us more about the farm and the fruits as our malay tour guide basically tell us the name of the fruits.
Passion Fruits
Custard Apple
Corn
Pomelo
Rosehips
Durians
Bananas
Jambu
Papaya
Bee Farm
At the end of the fruit farm tour the guide brought us to a mini animal farm and a koi fish pond and SMALL FAN gets to feed the fish and touch the rabbits. He also get to see ostrich, aligator, goats, chicks, ducks, owls and monkey. It was a pleasant surprise for him and I think he really enjoy it, especially feeding the fish. After that, we were transported back to the lobby area where we were give a bee talk from the staff telling us about the purpose of having bees in the farm and also the different bee products they have like honey, bee pollen etc.
Mini Animal Zoo
We had a sumptuous lunch at the farm. We were served a 6 or 7 course lunch with a buffet spread of fruits. So we were all really full as there is only 4 of us and the kids don't really eat much. The quantity was a lot for a small group although I was a little disappointed with the buffet fruit spread, they only served dragon fruits, mangosteen, watermelon, mango, honey dew, rambutan, preserved papaya. So we went to buy a durian from the fruit stall there and ate it instead. The durian was really really good...YUM
After that we got transported to our hotel at The Pulai Desaru. The check-in was really slow and we have to wait about half an hour for the room to get clean before we can get in. So I brought SMALL FAN to their kid's club to play. The kid's club is basically a room with a slide and a playhouse and some seesaws. But as kids are kids, SMALL FAN enjoyed himself.
I must say the room was quite big and spacious but a little old and many of the things look rusty, for example, the water heater was rusty and the bath tub was choked. But other then that, it's quite a pleasant stay, we got a kid size bed while my mother-in-law and my mum got a super single bed each in the other room which is connected to ours thru a door. The kids really enjoy themselves running from grandma's room to our room and back. After a resting in the room, we decided to went downstairs for some water fun. We went to the pool which was quite big and the beach was like just a few steps away from the pool.
At dinner time, we headed for a 10 course dinner at a seafood restaurants where we had crabs, lobster, calamari, fish, oyster eggs etc. We were gorging our food as it was really too much for us.

After that, we went to see fireflies as the driver brought us on a 30 minutes drive thru some whiny road to the river where we were told to wear life jackets and headed to a relative big and stable boat. The boat was quite big and as there were only our family, we get to move around the boat and catch the fire flies as some fly over to our boat. It was an interesting trip and SMALL FAN managed to hold a fire fly in his hand, it was so tiny. The whole place is like a mangrove swamp and it was covered with fireflies, it's like celebrating Christmas in advance as we watch the fireflies flicker on the bushes like those lightings on the Christmas tree. I strongly recommend this trip to see the fireflies, even my mum felt that it was interesting and she tried catching a fire fly herself to show it to SMALL FAN. But one warning, bring your insect repellent and spray on every single part of your body that is exposed. The mosquitoes there was really really a lot. We spray on my boy's leg and hand and forgot his face, so his poor face got bitten by the mosquitoes...poor boy. After that we headed home for a good night rest.
Day 2
Then we headed for a buffet lunch at the fruit farm. This time round, they had a larger spread of fruits and as usual we ordered some durians ourselves to enjoy. We had such a wonderful fruit lunch (we decided to just eat a little of the cooked food and concentrate on the fruits instead). After that we bought some souvenir from the stall at the fruit farm before we headed to the ferry terminal where we head home.
All in all, a great trip, wonderful meals and very educational and interesting for the kids. And most of all they really enjoy themselves. Although bringing Baby Fan for a trip was a little tiring as she refuses to eat her meals and sleep at odd timing and we have to take turns carrying her.
By the way, just to mention, it's quite interesting to see 2 moms staying together in the same room. I think they enjoyed themselves too as I was peeping at them on the 2nd day morning and saw them lying on the bed and talking, like teenage girls. Both of them love to cook, so they spend a lot of time talking about recipes...hi hi...I think we can plan for another mum-in-law's trip again next time.
