Qian Hu Fish Farm

Brought the kids to Qian Hu Fish Farm. Told SMALL FAN that we will be bringing him fishing and he got really excited. We went there with SMALL FAN's grandparents and cousins and I must say, this is a place for the entire family to go to. I was expecting SMALL FAN to have a great time, but was pleasantly surprise when I see that Baby FAN was enjoying herself too, kicking her leg at the fish spa. It's the first outing that we went that I don't really need to chase after SMALL FAN as the activity area was all contain in one area, so while Big FAN and I was happily feeding the fish with our legs at the fish spa, SMALL FAN was busy catching fish and looking at turtles. All in all a really fun day for all of us and will definitely bring SMALL FAN and Baby FAN there again.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the price for the fish spa was $10 per person for half an hour while the long kang fishing was $5 for half an hour and they provide you with a net and give you a fish tank which you can bring home. The kids manage to catch quite a lot of fish, I think about 20 and the staff there help us to package the fish back home, but by the time we get home, most of the fish was dead and by the next morning, it's all into the drain. They have weekdays package that is cheaper, so do visit their website to check it out http://www.qianhu.com.

Oh and one more thing, Big FAN really enjoys the fish spa and felt that his legs feel so smooth and clean after that. So maybe we can make it a monthly visit to clean up our legs and feet...hi hi..

Here's some pics and vid of the day:

Here's the kid's catch of the day, or rather the remains of their catch of the day and the fish tank that was given as part of the fishing package:

Simple Pleasure of Life

With a 1 year old and a 3 years old under my care, I was always at my wits end on how to keep both of them entertained at home other then watching TV. Things like art and craft and drawing is too tough for the 1 year old and things like rattle is too boring for the 3 years old. So Big FAN built this tunnel using very simple tools, basically just 2 bolsters, 2 pillows and a baby mattress and surprisingly the 2 kids love it and was really having a get time with it. SMALL FAN keep asking me to build the tunnel for him after that.

Ever since then, SMALL FAN started to become really creative and building his own tunnels using pillows, sofas, bolster, blanket etc...and Baby FAN gets to be the guinea pig and try out his tunnels and the 2 of them really enjoy themselves....cool...this is what I call "the simple pleasure of life"...

Part-time Cleaner

Changed my part-time cleaner again. This time, we engages Spick n Span International. Yesterday was the first day the part-time cleaner came, to my horror, it wasn't a Malaysian PR or locals, she was from Myanmar and has only came to Singapore 3 months ago. I'm not sure of what the current practice for these cleaning companies, but for the pass few companies I have engages, they all used locals or Malaysian PR. To make thing worst, the supervisor just asked me to pay for 2 months in advance and left. So I was left with the cleaner, so I told her what to do, one item at a time. That is, get her to change bedsheet first, then when she is done, she will ask me what's next, then I asked her to do etc. etc... It feels like I'm hiring a maid. In any case, she was quite clean when it comes to cleaning, but was very very slow, she wasn't able to complete the usual cleaning task expected and left at exactly 4 hours, saying that she need to rush for another household. I'm really disappointed, those cleaner that I engages before all finish their task before they leave. So I called up the company, but I was transferred to a voice box, so I send an email asking about termination (the contract stipulated 1 month minimum service, plus 1 month notification), I'm still waiting for their reply.

Well, just to recalled the pass cleaning companies I have engages:
  • ComfyHomes: I must say they are quite flexible and the supervisor was quite friendly. They are one of the few cleaning companies that provide 2 cleaners. I must say the cleaner they provide are very fast, they also complete before the stipulated time and still have time to help me clean the fan and windows. But the only issue I have with them is that they are not very thorough in their cleaning. My hubby also complaint why here not clean, there not clean, the main reason why we decided to terminate the service.
  • ISOHomes: Company was quite flexible and supervisor was friendly. They also provide 2 cleaners but only 1 main cleaner is fulltime, while the other person is part-time and they can sometime be a China PR. Cleaning was quite ok, too bad the company closed down due to finish problem.
  • Anonymous company: I can't remember which company I engages as it was really long time ago, before I have my baby boy..hi hi..They provided us with a Singaporean Cleaner. She is the cleanest of the lot and very efficient. But as our engagement continues she gets lazier and started to change the schedule, for example, instead of 4 hours on wednesday, she will ask if she can do 2 hours on wednesday and 2 hours on friday. Or sometimes, she happy happy, she will drop by for 1 hour to iron clothes etc. So, we decided to terminate her service.
Sigh... I think there is a moral to the entire experience, don't be too picky. The more you change, the worst it get...sigh....Keeping my finger cross that Spick n Span will allow me to terminate with immediate effect rather then wait for 2 months.

Outdoor Concert in the Singapore Botanic Garden

Brought the kids to the annual NAC-ExxonMobil Concert-In-The-Park at the Singapore Botanic Garden with some good friends. Luckily, the weather was really good, in fact, it's a little too sunny and hot. The kids seems to enjoy themselves, especially SMALL FAN, he loves feeding the fish at the pond. Baby FAN was also dancing to the music. All-in-all, a great day well spent.

Camera Fun

SMALL FAN has been playing around with my camera recently. Initially I was really worried that he will spoil my camera, but after a while he seems to be getting quite good at it and this is what he took.

Mei Mei:

The Alphabets on his bed:

The TV:

Ok, he actually took more photos than these, as I was diligently deleting his photos, it suddenly occur to me that this is a good way for me to understand and see how his world looks like. So, maybe I will get a cheaper camera for him someday and encourage him to take more photos, hopefully it will help me understand him better. I'm now thinking of how to display his product so he himself could see it and feel proud of it.
